21 year old Rum finish

RAISED IN SCOTLAND. ROUSED BY THE CARIBBEAN.

Originally launched in 2000 as Havana Reserve, Glenfiddich 21 year old is part of the Grand Series since 2019.

Glenfiddich 21 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Matured in oak barrels for 21 years, this whisky is then finished in hand-selected Caribbean rum casks for up to four months. The meticulous process makes for an exquisite Speyside whisky enriched with complex, warming and vibrant flavours.

Using their own Caribean rum to season their rum casks using a secret recipe from three tropical islands to imbue the cask with the right tropical flavours. This Caribbean rum finish awakens the Scottish whisky, giving the malt its rich, spicy flavour.

Rum is a distilled alcoholic spirit originally made from sugar cane or melasses, which is then aged in oak barrels for years. The rum used to season the casks is not commercially available. It is a secret recipe from a few tropical islands that Malt Master Brian Kinsman knows will best imbue the staves with exactly the right further flavours he wants. This unique rum is 60% vol – so it’s very strong and sweet – so he only needs to put it in each bourbon barrel for a few months to let it soak into the staves.
