Spirit Of Speyside Festival Bottling 2022 (2009-2022): The Cooper's Cask

The Cooper's Cask is a very special release and the result of a cask strength micro-vatting of three American oak casks, hand-crafted by former Glenfiddich Head Cooper, Ian MacDonald. The casks were crafted using three types of wood: American oak, virgin American oak and ex-Bourbon oak, and were an experiment conducted by MacDonald into how the unique assembly would affect the final flavour of the whisky. These casks, #62463-62465, were filled on 15th December 2009 and specially selected for the Spirit of Speyside 2022 Edition by Malt Master, Brian Kinsman, who has hand-signed each of the individually numbered bottles. Bottled at 60,1% abv.

For the second time in just three years, the release of the sought-after annual Spirit of Speyside Edition from Glenfiddich arrives amidst a time of unimaginable global crises. Whisky Auctioneer has partnered with the distillery once again to help raise funds for those affected by offering the full 460-bottle allocation of 'The Cooper's Cask' Spirit of Speyside Edition 2022, 100% of the proceeds of which will be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal

Spirit Of Speyside Festival Bottling 2023 (2011-2023)

2011 Glenfiddich Madeira Cask 63%. Full maturation in Madeira casks, however, the cask has been used for finishing prior to being filled in 2011.

2011 New European oak butt at 61%. The vast majority of the aroma and flavour of a sherry butt comes from the oak, rather than the sherry and this is the first hand evidence of that. This is a butt that is prepared for maturing sherry, but delivered to Scotland as virgin oak and didn’t undergo the sherry seasoning stage. The colour, nose and taste are all as a result of it being toasted European oak.
