The Experimental Series embodies the Grants' family philosophy of freedom and possibilities. Only by unlearning what we know and collaborating with like-minded mavericks can we try new things, experiment, push whisky boundaries and challenge traditions to create a range of ground-breaking single malts.

INSPIRED BY A SOMERSET ORCHARD. RIPENED IN A SCOTTISH VALLEY

The IPA Experiment together with Project XX (Experiment 2), were the first two variants that made the Experimental Series and were launched in 2016. Late 2017, Batch 1 of Winterstorm was released, followed by the 2nd batch around April 2018. Fire & Cane was released later that year. The 5th release, Orchard Experiment, was released in 2022.

For the 5th experiment, Malt Master Brian Kinsman travelled to Somerset in the South-West of England to meet Matilda Temperley, Master Distiller of her Family's industry-defining Somerset Cider Brandy company. Somerset Pomona is a blend of apple cider brandy and apple juice.  

Nose: Classic Glenfiddich notes of fresh pair and ripe orchard fruits, elevated and accentuated by a finishing period in Somerset Pomona Spirit Casks

Taste: An initial burst of ripe orchard fruits on the palate softens and develops into sweet creamy toffee, caramelised apple, and woody spice.

Finish: Long-lasting sweetness.
