A collaboration with South African designer, Mzukisi Mbane. ‘The filigree with gold lines represents my Nguni heritage, known for its geometric tribal prints and patterns. At the central point of the pattern is the crown, symbolised by women standing together, holding hands, and boldly wearing their natural hair in styles inspired by African tribes,’ he says.
Glenfiddich 26 year old Grande Couronne Eltipo
Belgian artist Eltipo grew up in the car bodyshop of his father. Where his curiosity towards techniques and materials grew. He became a designer, artist and craftsman in 2016 with a love for letters, typography and illustration.
Eltipo started his design with pencil and paper and later transferred it to the computer. ‘Art- and whiskymakers are very much alike’ he states. “Just like Glenfiddich, I feel a bit of an outsider wanting to be the best version of myself. We both combine traditional methods with modern day technology. We believe in our own vision and put in all our time, passion and knowledge. Only this way, we can create our own personal flavour.”
Glenfiddich 26 year old Grande Couronne Ayoola Gbolahan
Commenting on the inspiration behind his interpretation of the Grande Couronne filigree, Ayoola Gbolahan stated that while immersing himself with the brand, he discovered that Glenfiddich was a product of collaboration with different individuals over several years. He said “The bottle and stag were designed by two different people which made me believe that the William Grant family was disciplined and managed to keep the business afloat despite having multiple people (that were not related) to be part of the design process. I was inspired by all the people/ elements that were involved in the product and the artwork represents a fusion of all the minds that were involved in the product.”
Only 50 bottles of the Grande Couronne with sleeves inspired by the Grande Composition (Nigeria) artwork were produced – making this an exclusive collection for both whisky and art lovers!

Glenfiddich 26 year old Grande Couronne Fung
As part of the collaboration, Glenfiddich and Crypto Fashion Week designer Fung, have launched a digital fashion collection named ‘The Filigree Aesthetic’.
The collection includes three NFT’s (non-fungible tokens), each inspired by the reimagined art pieces from three of The Grande Composition artists; Mzukisi Mbane from South Africa, Malwina Konopacka from Poland and David Aiu Servan-Schreiber from the UK. Each piece represents each artist’s “reinterpretation” of the Grande Couronne filigree using different mediums and materials. Fung added: “Digital wearables will be the next big thing within NFT, people will be able to utilise them within AR, VR, or metaverses. There’s a lot you can do digitally that can’t be achieved in real-life garments i.e. animated graphics, making materials glow or defy gravity.”

"My art is inspired by the natural world and the opposing forces that impact how we interact with it. When we reimagine the old with the new; or find imperfections in seemingly perfect things."
"This interpretation of the brilliant Grande Couronne is raw, unpredicatble and emotive."
Glenfiddich 26 year old Grande Couronne WiseTwo
WiseTwo is one of the artists from around the world invited to reimagine the Grande Couronne’s luxurious design through their artist interpretation, as part of a multi-cultural collaboration titled the Grand Composition. The experienced artist took up the challenge backed by a perfected craft spanning 15 years in different countries. He is credited for painting some of the largest and most outstanding murals in East and Central Africa, and Mexico. He is also one of the first Kenyan artists whose work has been auctioned by the prestigious Sotheby auction house in New York.
“I have this special thing for the ancient world; I admire how societies in the past would document their lives. We are what we are because of that rich heritage, and so when I am doing my artwork, that’s the fusion I like to portray in my work. The Glenfiddich Grand Couronne is borne from the merging of two worlds. Similarly, my work is a collision of cultures and influences.”
Hieroglyphs (a signature of WiseTwo’s work) around the entire sleeve reinterpret the intricate filigree design featured on the Grande Couronne bottle. There is both richness in design and texture not just when viewed but when touched. He also integrates the subtle shape of a mask at the center of the piece (another signature element from WiseTwo’s work) enhanced by gold foil treatment to give the sleeve an accentuated, royal feeling along with beautiful contrast. In a tribute to his roots, WiseTwo pays homage to his home country in a deliberate quest to make prominent the Kenyan colours on his work.
