Glenfiddich Vintage Reserves

The Vintage Reserve collection from Glenfiddich is a selection of single cask bottlings introduced in 1999. They were bottled for the best part of the next decade, eventually being replaced by the revamped Rare Collection line during a rebrand of the distillery portfolio in 2008. The series was bottled from only a few select casks per year and they are highly prized by collectors and connoisseurs alike.

Please note Private Vintage bottlings have a different page and so have the successor or Vintage Reserve, the Rare Collection.

Vintage Reserve 1959-1999 - 40 years old

Cask #3959 was distilled in 1959 and aged for 40 years. Incredibly, this is one of only six bottles produced. A incredible rarity, this was produced to celebrate William Grant & Sons’ accolade for International Wine and Spirit Competition Distiller of the Year 1999. It was served at the awards dinner held at The Guildhall, London on 1st November 1999, with three bottles poured at the dinner. Only three bottles possibly still in existance.

Vintage Reserve 1974-2001 - 25 years old

Although bearing the label of the Vintage Reserve collection, this was actually the first ever Private Vintage bottling from Glenfiddich, a selection of single cask bottlings produced between 2001 and 2008. Each cask was exclusively selected for and bottled for a variety of private parties and whisky retailers. Cask #38231 had been donated to charity by Sandy Grant Gordon in his capacity as patron for the Museum of Scotland in the US. It was then purchased at auction by Ian Simpson and John Macaskill of Fenton Tower, a hotel in North Berwick, East Lothian.

Vintage Reserve 1975-2009 - 33 years old

Whisky’s tourism industry began here at Glenfiddich. We were the first Distillery to open our doors and welcome the public in. In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the Glenfiddich Visitor Centre.

40 years later, we invited a panel of our expert tour guides past and present to choose an excellent 2009 Vintage Reserve shortlisted by our Malt Master. After intense decision-making Cask 22000, a 33 year old European Oak Sherry Butt from 1975, was chosen.

Finish: Exceptionally long, rich and oaky with a hint of bitter dark chocolate.
